Minjee Lee's great start in US Open
Australia's Minjee Lee made a blazing start to the US Women's Open today, holing out for eagle on a par-four and leaping to second on the leaderboard. Lee, the 20-year-old second-year professional, carded a five-under 67 at CordeValle in California.
Hend soars to lead in Scotland
Scott Hend's outstanding European season continued as he grabbed a share of the lead in the Scottish Open at Castle Stuart through the first round. The 42-year-old Australian appears set to lock up his Olympic Games berth after he started with a three-under par 69 on Thursday.
WOODS WITHDRAWS FROM OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP
Tiger Woods has withdrawn from the 145th Open Championship, the R&A announced Friday. Woods has not played competitively in nearly a year as he recovers from multiple back surgeries. This marks the third time he has withdrawn from The Open because of injury, and the first such instance since 2011. He won the event in 2000, 2005 and 2006 but missed the cut last year at St. Andrews.

Yesterday Village Roadshows Limited announced successful US entertainment company Topgolf would open its first Australian venue on the Gold Coast by the end of 2017. But it’s just the beginning of a massive plan to revolutionise entertainment on the Gold Coast, with VRL to make a “huge” announcement in the next 60 days.
